Kim Sae-ron’s Family to Kim Soo-hyun: “Deny the Relationship? Then Explain the Grooming”

The controversy surrounding actor Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron has intensified following a press conference held by her family, where they questioned the nature of Kim’s actions during her teenage years. The conference took place on March 27 at 1:30 PM in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and was led by Boo Ji-seok, head attorney at Law Firm Buyu, who represents the bereaved family.

The legal team presented a collection of KakaoTalk messages alleged to be from Kim Soo-hyun to Kim Sae-ron when she was still underage. These messages, according to the family, point to a romantic or emotionally charged connection that began when Kim Sae-ron was a minor.
During the press conference, Boo Ji-seok directly addressed the possibility of Kim Soo-hyun continuing to deny the underage relationship even after the messages were made public.
He stated, “If he claims there was no relationship during her underage years, then based on the released messages, isn’t this grooming and a sexual offense? If they weren’t dating, then what was it? Is there even a need to respond further?”

The family’s representative also responded to earlier comments referencing evidence on the scale of the infamous Nth Room case, a major criminal case in Korea involving digital sex crimes and exploitation.
Boo firmly stated, “We’re speaking up to raise awareness about Kim Soo-hyun’s shameless attitude. What we’re saying is, ‘We also have this kind of information.’ But to protect the honor of Kim Sae-ron and her family, we have not released that part, at least, not yet.”
These bold statements have escalated the already explosive allegations against Kim Soo-hyun. While the actor’s agency previously denied any wrongdoing and claimed that the relationship only began after Kim Sae-ron reached adulthood, the family’s continued evidence releases and pointed accusations are placing immense pressure on Kim to respond. All eyes are now on how Kim Soo-hyun and his agency will address the growing questions—not only about the relationship, but also about accountability and the nature of consent when power dynamics and age gaps are involved.
